Modeling and control of hybrid systems

Hybrid systems are a class of dynamical systems involving continuous and discrete aspects. Thus, they allow to take into account some complex behaviors in the models (such as discontinuities, jumps). The control of hybrid systems presents new challenges regarding the methods, in particular due the combinatorial aspects involved by the presence of discrete valued variables in the equations.

Model Predictive Control

An efficient model based approach for the control of complex and/or constrained systems. The capability to handle constraints makes this approach usefull for the control problem of hybrid systems.

Power system networks

Voltage control of power grids is an important issue and needs for efficient control schemes. New contraints on those systems such as economical and environmental ones as well as strong evolutions (interconnexion reinforcement, decentralized generation) encourage industrials and reshearcher to develop new models, methods and tools. Energy issues are one of the greatest concern of this beginning century!
